About last night

Mammal –  it’s hard to put last night’s experience into words, and to be completely real, I’m still blown away as I’m writing about them this morning.

I follow a large variety of music and my appreciation for musicians and their craft will always be immense  —  but last night’s show was something else!

I have to admit, before my brother Kade Turner joined the band I had never heard of them, and that is frankly because I haven’t been exploring many new Australian artists post pandemic.

But Mammal clearly are something else, and from observing the crowd and their loyal followers, I can see why.

It’s not often a band can stick together for 16 years and keep so much passion for what they do — but after witnessing these extraordinary instrumentalists, their craft and epic songs, it only takes a few seconds to work out this band is nothing short of astounding.

With the Mammal logo easily spotted on spectator’s tees (many faded, showing the loyalty to the band) and those with past tour dates on the back, it’s clear to see their fans couldn’t be happier the band was back on tour, and smashing out old and new tracks from their albums.

Having witnessed many bands perform over the years, it was Mammal who absolutely blew my mind for their incredible artisanship and professionalism.

From Ezekiel Ox’s incredible vocals (not to mention epic hats and dance moves!) to the unbelievable bass player Kade Turner (my bro!), sensational guitarist Pete Williamson and epic drummer Zane Rosanoskithe, Mammal’s songs amplified the entire room, while fans danced and chanted lyrics throughout the entire set.

The crowd (including me!) simply couldn’t get enough and exhorted an encore to finalise the show!

Lastly, I have to say I am so proud of my brother Kade Turner for playing his heart out like he always does and delivering nothing by outstanding, incredible and professional bass tones!

I know my little sister Lily, Kade and I thought of Dad throughout the show and how much he would have loved to be there. He would have been so proud of his talented son.

Mammal, you absolutely blew the roof off Max Watts in Melbourne and I cannot wait to see what’s next for you!
