Teenage dream

It’s Monday the 16th of March 2020 here in New Jersey and I’m living the dream! Just kidding, I’m in lockdown from 8:00pm in my apartment due to new restrictions as a result of this pandemic.

But you have to find ways to laugh and be positive – hence why I’m now singing Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ to laugh at the situation and the universe (it sure has a wicked sense of humour right now!).

Why am I playing ‘Teenage Dream’ you ask? Well I feel like a teenager who’s been told she can’t venture out after 8:00pm (plus I love the song!).

I mean honestly, who would have thought chasing my dream would end with me being in New York during a pandemic!

The way I see it, I can either run away from everything that scares me and stop trying, or I can continue to keep going knowing I did all I could and my best during that time.

One thing teenagers do really well is worry less than adults, which I’m positive is another reason why Katie wrote the song. As an adult we have a lot more to be concerned about, but in times like this, worry and fear isn’t going to get us anywhere.

So right now, I’m going to continue to be optimistic and living in my ‘teenage dream’ – for one day this pandemic will end, I’ll be back in New York, and I’ll be living the ‘adult dream’ I always imagined.
